Microsoft Data & Automation Engineer

Are you ready to make an impact with data and automation? Join Otak's innovative IT team as a Microsoft Data & Automation Engineer and help transform how we work! In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of driving our digital transformation efforts. You’ll design and implement innovative data pipelines and reporting solutions that support business intelligence, automation and digital transformation initiatives across the organization.

Your focus will be to integrate critical business systems (Deltek, ADP, Azure, Microsoft 365) into a secure, scalable environment, while ensuring data quality, security and accessibility. This position is located in our Portland, OR office.

What you’ll do:

Data Integration & ETL

  • Develop and maintain ETL pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from Deltek, ADP, and other sources into Azure SQL databases.
  • Leverage Azure Data Factory, Power Automate, and other tools to streamline data movement and integration.
  • Ensure best practices for data security, governance, and compliance.

Database Management & Development

  • Design and maintain Azure SQL databases for reporting and automation.
  • Optimize queries and indexing for performance.

Business Intelligence & Reporting

  • Develop Power BI dashboards and reports for business insights.
  • Integrate Power BI with Azure SQL, ADP, and Deltek for real-time analytics.

Automation & Digital Transformation

  • Develop and implement automation solutions using Power Automate, including data workflows, approvals, and Active Directory updates.
  • Design, build, and support Power Apps solutions that integrate with Azure databases and other Microsoft systems.
  • Assist with the development of a vendor portal syncing with Deltek.
  • Ensure automation solutions follow best practices for security, scalability, and efficiency.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or an equivalent combination of education, certifications and experience may be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in data integration, ETL development, or database administration.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint) and Azure Storage.
  • Strong SQL skills, including stored procedures and query optimization and managing databases.
  • Experience with Azure services (Data Factory, SQL Database, Logic Apps, Synapse Analytics is a plus).
  • Proficiency in Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
  • Knowledge of security best practices for data management and cloud infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Deltek, and ADP integration is a plus.
  • Experience in the AEC industry or professional services firms preferred.

Salaries are based upon candidate experience, qualifications, and work location as well as market and business considerations.
